***Change in Basic Skills Curriculum***
Starting in 2011, NFSC Coaches and Board of Directors have made a change to the Basic Skills Curriculum. The class format will be divided with equal halves being spent on Basic Skills and Creative Kids. During the Creative Kids portion of class, skaters will explore a variety of musical and choreographic styles by putting the learned Basic Eight skills and sequences together in a group program format. Its a fun way to develop a skaters individual personality and creativity on the ice and will help prepare skaters for our annual ice show as well! For the hour class, skaters will be divided up by levels, into two groups. One of the groups will work on Basic Skills elements while the Creative Kids group will use the Basic Skills knowledge towards creating a short musical program. After 30 minutes, the two groups will switch. The Board believes this will be a positive and fun change for our skaters.
